Sam brings a big bag to school.
"Is it a new bag?" asks Amy.
"Yes, it is!" says Sam.
"It's my birthday gift."
Sam opens the bag.
"What's this?" asks Amy.
Sam takes out a new pen.
It's blue and shiny.
"Wow! Is it a pen?" asks Amy.
"Yes, it is!" says Sam.
He takes out a big ruler.
"Is it a ruler?" asks Amy.
"No, it isn't!" laughs Sam.
"It's a big eraser!"
Amy laughs too.
"That's a funny big eraser!"
Then Sam shows a small pencil.
"This is a small pencil," he says.
"And this is an old pen. But I like it."
Amy says, "I like new things. But old things have stories!"
